On December 17, 2022, the final of the second "Fancy Ideas " Innovation and Creativity Competition jointly organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Physical Education, the National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory, and Shanghai Lingyao Electromechanical Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. was successfully held in the form of online defense. Dong Guojiang, Party secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Yao Jiantao, Vice dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Qi Xiaowen, director of the National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory, and Yang Guanghui, Vice dean of the School of Physical Education attended the event.

In the early preparation of this competition, the organizer, together with the Association of the Disabled in the Harbor District, determined the theme of "Innovative design of fitness and health equipment for the disabled", aiming to help the disabled people recover their health, and actively guide the enthusiasm for innovation and creativity of students, and highlight the concept of "independent innovation" and "original innovation". In order to further deepen the students' humanistic feelings for the disabled and improve the gold content of the competition works, experts from inside and outside the school were invited to hold a publicity meeting to guide the students before the competition and teach them how to develop innovative thinking and how to find market pain points with altruistic thinking. When facing the demands of wheelchair users, Make them learn to use morphological knowledge to solve the problem of rehabilitation training equipment design. The students have absorbed the multi-directional suggestions from the experts in the aspects of work topic selection, social value, innovation significance, development prospects, team cooperation and so on, and have benefited a lot.

Since the notification was issued on October 11, 178 works have been collected around the three themes of assisted standing, lower limb rehabilitation training, and cardiopulmonary function training. During the review and recommendation, the first round and the final round, a mentor team formed by the Association of Mutilations in the Port Area, Shanghai Lingkey Company and experts in the school followed and guided the whole process. A total of 105 award-winning works were selected in the final round. 15 works including "Intelligent rehabilitation resistance training chair" won the first prize, 18 works including music interactive active cardiopulmonary function exercise device won the second prize, 37 works including electric skeleton assisted walking device won the third prize, 35 works including auxiliary standing shoes and pants -- pneumatic assisted "Big White" won the excellent award.
